Old wives' tales and realities
Several years ago, olive oil was still an exotic among the oils in Northern countries. In the meantime it is not only "in" but is also valued by many instead of other oils.
Up to this point everything is clear and easy to understand. The big end comes, because unfortunately the best old wives' tales are connected with olive oil.
This includes:
- Olive oil can only be used for salads
- You cannot heat olive oil
- Olive oil doesn't last very long
First of all, what always amuses me. Extra virgin olive oil is always required and of course cold pressed. I always allow myself to ask what is meant by extra virgin. In 99% the answer is: first pressing, of course.
