Sleep where the truffle beckons
The times when everyone wanted to spend their vacation in a 4 * hotel have changed. Of course, hotels have their customers, and that's perfectly fine. However, the trend towards independent holidays is increasingly connected with special experiences.
The Fiastra lake is a good choice here, and here again accommodation in the rooms of the Osteria del Lago.
Five double rooms have been set up above the Osteria del Lago. Each room has its own bathroom, TV, hairdryer. Who would be surprised that some of the rooms have wonderful lake views. They are rooms that are simply and functionally furnished. The nice thing is that the furniture is made of real wood instead of imitation wood made of plastic. The floor is also real parquet. It may not seem important to everyone, but like in restaurants and pizzerias, the family places value on real instead of artificial beauty. In addition, the rooms stand out pleasantly from the normal small sizes because they are spacious.
Of course, except in absolute silence at night, only with the sound of night birds, the guest can take a refreshing breakfast in the morning. The good fairy Maria, the Regina della Cucina takes care of that. In addition to wonderful cakes, i.e. the "dolci", clear, homemade, you also get "salati", i.e. Ham, salami, cheese. If you want, you can also indulge in the morning with a frittata with truffles. Let your imagination run wild and just watch yourself sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake, illuminated by the sun, with a nice cappuccino and a delicious breakfast. It is not the big things in life that are remembered, but always the subtleties!
If you want to experience how truffles are actually searched for instead of just being satisfied with a demonstration, you can go looking for them after prior consultation with Felice, the senior host, and his dogs. It quickly becomes clear that a truffle search is not a walk and truffles do not grow under every tree. But the effort is also rewarded if you find what you are looking for and a delicious meal with truffles in the evening!
As the best travel times, I actually recommend every month with the exception of mid-July to late August.
