Charme mediterraneo

The sweet dream of freedom

The magical world at your feet
La mia Casa nelle Marche

Behind the coastal part of Cupra Marittima and Grottammare, the roads meander into the rolling hills, the heart of the Southern Marche, bordered by the sea and the Sibillini Mountains. Between the hills, the rivers that rise in the Sibillini mountains cross the landscape and then end in the sea. And there are quite a few rivers!
After having passed the Marche balcony, as Ripatransone is affectionately known, located at the highest point between the Tesino and Aso valleys, the road descends again for about one kilometer until you reach the B&B La mia Casa nelle Marche.
Perhaps you would drive past it if it weren't for the sky-blue window shutters that can be seen from afar, which already send out a signal who is at home here: someone with a sunny, cheerful disposition. And that's how the owner Susanne presents herself.
In 2019 she discovered this house and bought it after only a short thought, because she had simply lost her heart to it. Why am I telling this? With her deep love for the house, Susanne has created a gem that reflects exactly this feeling and makes it homely for the guest at first glance.

The whole house is flooded with light, hardly any room has less than two windows. Every time you look out of one of the windows, you are transported into a picture book, into the magical landscape of the Piceno, as the southern part of the Marche is officially called.
There are 4 guest rooms in total. One is on the ground floor and the other three are on the second floor. Two of them have en-suite bathrooms with extra-large shower cabins, which means nobody has to take a shower in sardine mode. The other two rooms have a very large bathroom together and are therefore ideal for families. Very interesting is that this bathroom is always private. If the two rooms are not rented to families, the 4th room remains free. So, nobody has to share a bathroom with a stranger.
Each room is furnished differently and appears full of life at first glance. No cool, distance-creating sterility of the rooms, but the colourful vibrancy of many details, collected over the years, which now create this atmosphere as if you come home and not in a strange house.

On the ground floor there is a small living room for guests, comfortably furnished as if you were sitting in your own living room. Next to it is the breakfast room, connected to a kitchen. There the guest can take glasses or crockery. Only it is not allowed to cook by yourself. Susanne is happy to prepare a meal for guests who wish to do so.
Don't forget to try Susanne's delicious and unusual liqueurs, such as pomegranate liqueur, and olive oil. Since Susanne has 85 olive trees on the property, which has not been chemically fertilized for 15 years, the oil is absolutely organic.

The whole front is always dominated by the view out over the landscape. Who would want to have breakfast indoors with such a panorama that almost takes your breath away? No matter what time of year, the view is always terrific, in June it is definitely the highlight, because then the fields all around glow in the bright yellow of the sunflowers. Under the pergola you can start the day enchanted with a breakfast of homemade jams and cakes, juice, tea, coffee, etc.

A barbecue area was created in the garden, which is of course ideal for a delicious meal on nice, cosy evenings. After consultation with the owners, the guests are then spoiled with grilled meat or fish and/or vegetables according to their wishes.

As the house is under monument protection, there is no air conditioning, but fans in the rooms. Since the conversion of this 100-year-old house, which was originally a school building, did not use concrete but natural building materials, i.e., bricks, air conditioning is also pretty much unnecessary, plus the hillside location, which moderates the summer heat with mild breezes.
At the beginning of the colder season, underfloor heating on the ground floor and gas heating in the rest of the house ensure that the guest can feel comfortable.

The house is open all year round and except in July and August there is no minimum length of stay.
It must be pointed out that the house has two cats. Even if they can't get into the guest rooms, allergy sufferers should think before making a booking.
For families with children, it must also be mentioned that the house is on a slope and very young children must always be under the supervision of a parent. The accommodation is therefore more suitable for families with children over 6 years of age.
Directly at the house is a small private parking place. If guests have bicycles with them, they can be safely stored.

Thanks to the favourable position of the house you can be at the sea in less than half an hour, within an hour you can reach all the interesting jewels of Piceno such as Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Offida and so many other small towns that all have one thing in common, their original medieval character. It is also only a distance of approx. 70 minutes to the legendary Sibillini, the magical realm of the magical Sibilla, for hiking tours right in the heart of the high mountains area.

By the way: save yourself expensive stress therapies, this is the ideal place to let your soul dangle!

Relax in a wonderful world

Residenze degli Ulivi
Not far from the sea, near Campofilone, the stronghold of the world-famous pasta, there is a special 5,000 m2 accommodation in the middle of the green. Flowers, with oleander bushes and palm trees, the range of Mediterranean plants is extensive and gives the guest the feeling of entering a very own realm, which simply blocks out the hectic pace and problems of daily life. Peace, serenity and at night only the noises of the night birds.
The hillside location between the sea and the high mountains of the Sibillini also lets your gaze wander over the wonderful landscape. Le Marche, that's actually how you can imagine paradise. In a nutshell, it can be said that whoever is a guest here has found a small and nice, cozy accommodation, yet for high demands and to the delight of visitors, open all year round.

The Residenze degli Ulivi does not offer apartments, but 8 rooms, which, depending on your choice of the category, can accommodate 2 to max. 5 people. One of the rooms, however, can definitely be described as a holiday apartment, because it has a kitchenette that is equipped with everything you need as a fully autonomous guest. In addition to the refrigerator, there is even a washing machine!
In all other rooms in the Superior category there is a kettle, which can of course also be supplied in another category on request.
The rooms are lovingly furnished with high quality furniture, private bathroom, TV, air conditioning, both for the summer and for heating for the colder months. The really special feature is that each room has a separate entrance and a piece of garden with seating furniture belonging to the room. Even the naming is quite original: every room owes its name to an ancient Roman matron!

The pool, which is located at the highest point of the property, is available for all guests and is also equipped with everything you need for relaxing days: sun loungers and parasols, seating and tables. Here, too, a special feature that definitely needs to be mentioned: the water is salt water like in the sea!

When it comes to dining, you can save yourself the search for a restaurant, because both a restaurant for the colder season and an outdoor restaurant in the warmer months offer excellent dishes. It is particularly worth mentioning that here, as in almost all Marchigian restaurants, traditional cuisine is served, primarily based on fish, but of course also with delicious meat dishes. The fish comes from the Adriatic Sea, so absolutely freshly caught, directly from the nearby coast.
Of course, it's no different at breakfast. Here, too, most of the cakes and delicious sweets are made in-house, the sausage products, cheese and fruit and vegetables come from nearby, mostly small producers.
It's still the real Italy, unadulterated and natural, with the appreciation of the terrain and its treasures and its unique cuisine, which here is almost completely removed from the terrible international mishmash, unless you visit the typical tourist bars - but even then ... .

The Residenze degli Ulivi has recently started offering trips on a Vespa. So if you want to explore the area in this typical Italian vehicle, you can rent a Vespa for hours or days, with a guide if you wish.

My personal impression: an owner couple, Daniela and Giampiero, who lovingly look after their guests, a wonderful accommodation and beautiful, cozy rooms - perfect for an enjoyable holiday!

Country-Hotel La Sorgente

Where people, tradition and nature come together

Sprawling and impersonal hotel complexes in positions where there was before nature, soil covered with concrete, where there is no more blade of grass, not to mention an animal - we all know that.
Fortunately, there are still regions where the focus is not on people, but on the landscape and its preservation. In the central Italian region of Le Marche, the Marche, and here especially in the southern part, the Piceno, people respect natural conditions and adapt their own needs to them as far as possible.

The Country Hotel La Sorgente is one of those houses that have retained their very own character and also radiate this charm to visitors. Only a few minutes away from the Adriatic Sea at Cupra Marittima, nestled in the enchanting hilly landscape, this hotel, built from solid bricks and natural stone, is located near Massignano. The interplay of the two different building blocks has a homely effect and does not have the typical “static” that hardly contributes to feeling at home somewhere.

The blue-painted windows and doors give the building the splash of colour, which soften the solidity of the building blocks and just look inviting. However, the guest is sure to get a little shock at the entrance gate. There it goes downhill for about 15 m.
The entrance portal already reflects what continues in the house itself: many loving details that result in a harmonious whole. A mighty century old oak overshadows the driveway and only allows a view of the house entrance. Once at the bottom, the field of vision opens up over the enchanting hills and the sea. When you take a box seat with a panoramic view on this terrace or sit down by the small pool with your sun loungers, the guest almost inevitably comes over the feeling of deep calm.

Since the hotel only has four rooms, a stress factor is eliminated. These rooms are quite small, which is due to the time of construction, namely around 1740! Since the interior of the main house has remained unchanged in its structure, the original room size has also been retained. In this way one can see how the original Marchigian case coloniche, the manor houses, were made.
What is now a beautiful restaurant was a stable back then, and today's rooms had been the family's living quarters. The bright colours in the rooms with the names wind, moon, sea and sun give a feeling of serenity and joie de vivre, the many loving details also decorate them. The rooms also have a view of the unique beauty of the landscape and the sea.
The restaurant is a highlight. Old wooden beams, a lot of stone, wonderful floors, rustic without being really rustic, rather with the touch of being in very special rooms, simply an eye's breadth.
Not only because of the furnishings, but also because of the meals that are served, dining here is a special experience. Of course, the traditional Marchigian cuisine, exquisite products that are used to prepare it, meat that you can even see before preparation - simply top class.
If you then have the evening menu in the open air in summer, see the lights of the fishing boats flashing on the sea and the water even appears completely in silver when the moon is full, then the world is perfectly fine for a few hours.

Places of interest such as Fermo, Ascoli, Grottammare, Cupra Marittima, Offida, Ripatransone and many others are within a maximum radius of approx. 10 minutes to an hour (Monti Sibillini). There is so much to see here that many guests return here, because Le Marche awaken the longing for the “Arrivederci” in this paradise.
