Naples has a pretty bad reputation among all cities in Italy. Wrongly! Experience the great art and culture that Naples offers its visitors on this city break. In the shadow of Vesuvius, in the fertile area that already attracted the Roman emperors, you will see the capital of Campania in a different light.
But Naples stands for much more: for unbelievable joie de vivre and for what everyone appreciates about Italy: the Mediterranean way of life, which always has a smile for everyone, no matter how dreary a situation may be - in short, sapere vivere!
Day 1: Buon giorno Napoli
Flight to Naples, preferably in the morning. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the B&B in the historic center by your tour guide. In the afternoon you will take a first excursion. The list of cultural assets is long, but the location of the property makes everything within walking distance. A little bit of stamina is necessary. Depending on your arrival time, you will first get to know Spacca Napoli, the street that has historically divided historic Naples. The Basilica of Santa Chiara with its beautiful cloister with the famous ceramics will be a visit today. You walk right next to the Cappella Sansevero, where the figure of the veiled Christ leaves you speechless. With Via San Gregorio Armeno you get to know the famous alley of the crib makers and the church Gesu Nuovo, with its magnificent decoration. Of course, a real Neapolitan pizza should not be missing for dinner!
Day 2: In the heart of Naples
This day is dedicated to the culturally rich ancient center of the city. You will visit the Cathedral of San Gennaro, where the blood miracle is celebrated every year, and, and, and ... it is not surprising that the entire old town of Naples is a World Heritage Site. During the visits, we orientate ourselves according to your preferences and times. However, there are some highlights. After lunch in a typical Neapolitan trattoria, you will descend into subterranean Naples and travel 2600 years to learn about the city's secrets, stories and legends. Duration approx. 60 min. Afterwards you will definitely not be able to get past the Caffe Gambrinus in Piazza del Plebiscito, which is the best known and most famous house in Naples.
The “Teatro San Carlo” in the immediate vicinity, one of the most beautiful theaters in Europe and the oldest in the world, will be another highlight. The next walk through the Galleria Umberto opens up a new dimension of shopping. For dinner you will be spoiled with local delicacies.
Day 3: Famous panoramas
The most famous view of Naples is the lake promenade of Santa Lucia between Castel dell’Ovo and Posillipo with a view of the entire Gulf and Mount Vesuvius and the islands. From here you start a boat tour, where you can admire this exclusive district from the sea. Much history goes hand in hand with that about the construction of the Castello and its actual origins. Take a snack in the Borgo Marinari, under the castle walls, which was used to accommodate fishermen and their boats. The imposing, massive Castel Sant’Elmo and the nearby San Martino Charterhouse are visible from many points in Naples. This will be the next panorama point in the afternoon. In the late afternoon we will go back to the accommodation. After dinner, you should not miss visiting Napulitanata (optional). A wonderful, amusing little show that can only be found in Naples. With Neapolitan songs and the exuberant zest for life, simply a delicious pleasure.
Day 4: Ciao Napoli
Today you say goodbye to Bella Napoli. Maybe you will be like me then, Arrivederci with a little parting pain from this fantastic city. Depending on the departure time, transfer to the airport and possibly an opportunity to visit Pozzuoli beforehand.
