The fragrance of the Marche

Dimora Collemare

All beauty in just one turn around
There are more and more holiday apartments in different designs and qualities.
A house with 8 apartments on one of the gentle hills behind Cupra Marittima, which takes guests to another world, belongs in a category that can be described very easily: 100% top!

For 11 years Maurizio has worked with his family, the owners, to transform what was originally a casa colonica (that is, a manor house with various stables built in 1901) into a wonderful building with mostly original bricks. In order to meet the requirements in the Marche, which state that a house can only be restored to the same dimensions as the original, Maurizio included the stables. This created a wonderful connection between traditional construction and the valued building material, the bricks and a highly modern interior design.
Surprise for drivers: the entire house has a basement and offers underground parking for 9 cars! An elevator provides added convenience, so no one has to lug a suitcase up the stairs.

The house is surrounded by a spacious, beautifully landscaped garden with a pool, which is a little further from the house. The thought behind it: Children usually love to romp around loudly in the water. At a distance you can still take a nap and the kids can have fun. Sun loungers and a gazebo are at guests' disposal.

The 8 apartments, each of which bears the name of a Roman deity, are distributed over 2 floors, the ground floor and the 1st floor. The 2 large apartments have two double bedrooms, 2 apartments have a double bedroom and a bedroom with a bunk bed. In addition, there is the option of using the sofa bed in the living room in the other 4 apartments with a double bedroom. “Large” really means a very spacious apartment, measuring more than 70 m2!

On the first floor, an apartment is particularly equipped, since it offers a perfect small swimming pool on the terrace that belongs to it. The pool is equipped with an internal lighting, in which the colors are adjustable, the water temperature can be adjusted too. There is also a hydromassage with 42 jets, whereby the pressure can be regulated individually. Although it is the smallest apartment as it has only one bedroom, it is just right for honeymooners and lovers.
The kitchen is equipped with everything everywhere. From the dishwasher, a microwave, a refrigerator to a stove with a ceramic hob to dishes and glasses.
What probably amazes everyone is the size of the bathrooms. With a window and a lot of freedom of movement - even in the shower! What is usually criticized is not an issue here: storage space can be found in every bathroom. Bed linen and towels are provided. Needless to say, WiFi is available throughout the house.
Air conditioning and underfloor heating ensure the right temperature in every season.
Each apartment has a terrace or balcony equipped with a wrought iron table and chairs.
There you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view at dinner or simply with a glass of our wonderful wines, a landscape that, through its grace and harmony, gives even the most stressed people what is so rare today: peace and absolute relaxation. From the sea to the Sibillini mountains, in between all the beauty of the rolling hills with their patchwork of olive groves, vineyards, cornfields, sunflower fields or groves, no matter where you look it seems like a postcard from a bygone era. Buzzards, seagulls, falcons, starlings, swallows and here and there the star of the bird world, the brightly feathered bee-eater, circle in the sky. In the garden butterflies flutter from flower to flower, brimstone butterflies, admiral butterflies, blue moths, swallowtails and so many others. The bees and bumblebees are buzzing from bush to bush and the world just seems peaceful.
Besides the floral splendor with a variety of fragrant blossoms, guests can enjoy something else, fresh herbs and tomatoes. Maurizio has grown this for his guests and they can help themselves here. There is also no shortage of fresh endive from September to April, as he owns a very large endive plantation!
Guests do not necessarily have to cook in their own apartments, as there is also a very large "summer kitchen" that can be used by all guests in the house.
I seldom have seen a house furnished with so many of the best materials and Maurizio never tires of improving!

Those who don't want to cook themselves will find plenty of opportunities in Cupra Marittima and the neighbouring towns to let themselves be spoiled according to traditional recipes in various restaurants. Fish is of course very important! If you look over the sea at night, you can see the many fishing boats as small points of light, which then bring their catch ashore to sell in the very early morning.

If you want more than just relaxing, there are no limits. The Piceno, the name for the southern part of the Marche, is ideal terrain for excursions of all kinds. Down to the sea with its sandy beaches is only a few kilometres away, Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, the Monti Sibillini with their wonderful hiking trails, Offida, San Benedetto del Tronto, to name just a few places, are also less than an hour's drive away to reach. If you want to be active right outside the front door, you can go on a hike through the hilly landscape and the hotel's own forest or rent a bike - depending on your taste, racing bike or mountain bike.
Wine lovers will not miss the opportunity to visit one or more of the wineries, for tastings - and there are quite a few! The olive oil of the Marche is no less interesting, as is the pasta from Campofilone, the salamis and ham, and, and, and... there are so many delicacies that make the Marche paradise a gourmet paradise!
Those who spend their holidays here will get an idea of what is meant by "Seventh Heaven".

Like paradise - Villa Costantino

The Marche are good for many surprises. It's not just about the cultural and naturalistic surprises, there are also many discoveries in accommodation. Anyone who normally thinks that a holiday apartment near the sea has to be in a busy area is wrong.

The Villa Costantino with its 4 apartments is such an aha experience. Just 1.5 km from the beaches in Cupra Marittima, it is idyllically embedded in the green of the surrounding hills with their meadows, fields and forests.
If you want to enjoy the sea, but not necessarily the hustle and bustle in the coastal towns in the summer months, but prefer to be able to retreat in soothing silence, this wonderful villa offers a suitable haven of peace. Like many of these secret jewellery boxes, this villa is not located directly on a busy main road, but a bit off, accessible only via a small, unpaved road (approx. 400 m).
After the gate, the view of the magnificent building opens up, which is not surprising, as it originally served as a hunting residence for a noble family in the 18th century. The actual structure was retained, both indoors and outdoors, when the restoration was carried out. It took four years, from 2014 to 2018, to let the villa shine in its beauty again. The original materials were used for this and even in some of the interiors the original walls were left as they always were, made of bricks, without plastering.

When the guest enters the villa, he is amazed to see that the inside differs enormously from the outside. In all very modern rooms, the colour white dominates, both on the walls and partly on the floor. This cool colour is loosened up by lots of splashes of colour with carpets and antique furniture, as well as the parquet floors. In three rooms, however, and on the stairs that lead to the first floor, the floor is different because it is painted white with resin.

The 4 apartments are designed differently in terms of size and distribution, but each one very bright and spacious, so that a total of up to 18 guests could be accommodated in the apartments.
They are divided as follows:
App. 1 has 1 bedroom
App. 2 has 3 bedrooms
App. 3 and 4 offers 2 bedrooms each
There are 6 bathrooms in total, so there is no shortage of shower facilities.
The possibility of expanding an apartment with two bedrooms to an apartment with a total of five bedrooms is interesting. This is well solved by a connecting door and, in case that only one apartment is required, by an additional sliding shelf.

There are three apartments on the ground floor, one on the first floor with a spacious terrace.
The apartment with the 3 bedrooms is divided into the ground floor and 1st floor. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor with a bathroom, the other two are situated on the first floor, also with a bathroom.

Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen of exceptional design. The whole kitchenette, in some apartments however only a part, can namely "disappear" behind a sliding door.
In the whole house there is an air conditioning system in midsummer for pleasant temperatures, in winter the building is warmed by central heating.
If you want to wash your laundry during your stay, you have the opportunity to use the washing machines in the laundry room of the house free of charge.

In front of the building placed on one side there is a small ditch filled with water, which then flows into a small pond-like basin. Illuminated at night, this offers an ideal ambience to sit down on the comfortable armchairs at the open bar behind it and enjoy the mild nights. It is a real Italian feeling!
“Bar” may not be the right term because it is also a fully equipped kitchen. Anyone who has something to celebrate with friends or family can use this. There are cooks available who will prepare the feast on request. But you don't just have to think about partying. Anyone who would like to take a cooking course also has the opportunity here. However, this must then be requested.

The swimming pool is located above the building and the bar. Under the gazeboes you can take a completely relaxed nap in the shade on the loungers or just enjoy yourself. Enjoy the view over this lovely territory and feel like being in paradise.

Thanks to the central location near Cupra Marittima, everyone who doesn't just want to spend the holidays on the beach or at the pool can go on many excursions. Each one an experience and a highlight for the day: Fermo, Ascoli Piceno, Offida, Ripatransone, the Monti Sibillini, and, and, and ... the list is long and besides, once the Marche has been discovered, it is difficult to believe in its magic revoke. It gives us what we need so much: a little harmony in a stressful world.

Villa Montefiore

Those who visit the Le Marche region (the Marche in German) usually don't focus primarily on the sea and the beach, but rather on the hinterland. In its grace with the gentle hills, the medieval towns enthroned on the heights, the colours and scents of the meadows and fields, the backdrop of the Monti Sibillini, all this seems like another time, like another life that opens up to the guest here.

In the middle of the hills are the Case Coloniche, the large manor houses. Some are still used as such, while others have been converted into holiday apartments. These holiday apartments have nothing in common with standard apartments, because they represent something very special.
This is also the case with Villa Montefiore, close to the small town of Monsano and around 30 km from Ancona, the regional capital and 15 km to the airport.
From the original villa of the aristocratic Ripanti family of the first half of the 17th century with a surface of totally 600 m2 and an impressive 3800 m² court, 5 apartments were created in several years of renovation from 2004, whose names reflect the colours and scents: lavender, jasmine, gorse, pomegranate and mulberry.
During this restoration, the original building brick stones were used, the details observed and protected. This is how the Ripanti summer residence became a real gem, adapted to today's requirements without destroying the character and soul of the villa.

Most of the apartments have an open fireplace for cooler days, the old wooden beams and the floor, which was mainly laid with the original tiles, ensure natural comfort. Each apartment has a unique design. The furniture is carefully selected, elegant without being over the top and creates a perfect blend of antique and modern.
However, the apartments have a few things in common: they are very spacious and spacious, the underfloor heating warms everywhere, the fully equipped kitchens offer everything you need for cooking, from the pan to the dishwasher, from the glasses to the coffee maker. Everywhere you have WLAN use and one more important point, the windows are provided with mosquito nets.
The shared washing machine is available to guests for dirty laundry.
There is no air conditioning in any of the apartments. On the one hand it would disturb the overall picture, on the other hand the masonry made of solid brick and a thickness of 50 cm offers natural protection against heat in summer and cold in winter. In addition, mild winds ensure that you don't miss an air conditioner at all. Furthermore, the internal shutters and the special curtains on the Velux windows on the second floor keep the rooms at pleasant temperatures.

Two apartments, the Melograno and the Ginestra (pomegranate and gorse), are spread over two floors and have a bathroom on each floor. The Melograno can accommodate up to 6 people, the Ginestra 4 people. Instead of tiles, oak parquet was used on the upper floor.
The view, from whichever apartment, is simply gorgeous and stretches from the sea to the “blue mountains”, as the Monti Sibillini are affectionately known by the Marchigiani.

Each apartment has its own garden, where the associated garden furniture invites you to enjoy your meal or simply a glass of wine in the evening. Enjoyment is the key word for the vacation days in this harmonious environment. When looking at the fireflies, the butterflies and the abundance of flowers that simply form the splotches of colour in the middle of the meadows, listening to the sound of the nocturnal birds in the otherwise silent night, some become aware that life also means pausing for a moment.

If you don't want to take on the approx. 20 km to the sea and the beaches of Marina di Montemarciano or to Monte Conero (approx. 45 min.), You can use the pool, which is only a few steps away from each apartment. There are 10 sun loungers and 4 parasols for those who want to spend a sunny day in a relaxed atmosphere.

In the small medieval town of Monsano, 1.5 km away, guests will find everything they need for daily life. Grocery stores, a bank, the post office, a tobacco shop and of course a bar and a bakery. A petrol station is 4 km away.

For excursions here in the central part of the Marche there are places with absolutely recommendable sights. Among them Jesi, birthplace of Friedrich II. Von Hohenstaufen, Fabriano, the city of paper and watermarks, Pergola with its unique gilded bronze statues from Roman times, the nature reserve of Monte Conero, Corinaldo, Recanati, and, and, and - the list is long and some of them become “repeat offenders” due to the diversity of the Marche, so that they can discover even more with each visit.

Casa di Gino

If you love the scent of oleander, jasmine and all the wonderful plants of the south, you can find your own garden of Eden in an apartment in this house.
Only about 1.5 km from the sea, along the road that runs through the Aso Valley, lies the house with a large garden in the middle of the extensive grounds of a landscape garden. It should also be noted that this valley is considered the fruit, vegetable and plant garden of the southern Marche. Actually there is no type of fruit that does not appear here. Only citrus fruits are not grown, although they also thrive here. However, since Sicily can offer cheaper prices for it, we leave citrus growing to this region.

The wonderfully renovated house is divided into 6 apartments, all of the same size, 45 m⊃2;. Only one apartment has 80 m⊃2;. The apartments are spread over two floors.
Each has a well-equipped kitchen, as well as WiFi and TV with foreign programs in addition to the Italian channels. Since a pleasant wind drives away the greatest heat even in midsummer, there is no air conditioning. The solid masonry also helps to keep the greatest warmth away.

In the garden you can have breakfast in a covered patio or enjoy the evening with a glass of wine. A brick barbecue area completes the equipment.
The apartments can be booked all year round. The heating makes it an ideal place to stay even in the winter months.
Since the Casa di Gino is in a central position, the guest is quickly in the wonderful old towns. Even the magical Sibillini Mountains are only 90 minutes away by car and you are in the heart of the national park.
San Benedetto del Tronto with its palm corso is about half an hour's drive away, in one of the cozy seaside resorts such as Cupra Marittima or Grottammare in an even shorter time. Not to forget the beautiful little towns in the hinterland such as Ripatransone, all of which have retained their medieval character.

Cherry House, app. Geranio

Cherry House, app. Geranio
Absolute relax in the dreamy hills of the Piceno

The heart of the Le Marche region is the fascinating landscape between the sea and the mountains with its vineyards, sunflower fields, pastures, cornfields, orchards, and the medieval towns on the crests of the hills - in short, a sight like a postcard. In the middle of this idyll are the original Case Coloniche, the old manors. Many have been abandoned, but many are still inhabited or have been converted into beautiful holiday homes or holiday apartments. Of course, always under the strict conditions that the original structure of a house must not be changed.

One of these gems can be found near Petritoli, the Cherry House with the Geranio apartment, part of the property, which has a total of three accommodation options. This house is enchanted in a dreamlike environment with a view over the hilly landscape, which changes its appearance at any period, actually at any time of the day.
A family or a group of friends up to 6 people will find enough space on two levels, the ground floor and the 1st floor, on a living space of 135 m⊃2;.

On the ground floor there is the living room with dining area and high-quality kitchen equipment, where nothing is missing. Even a dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle are available for the guests.
A bedroom with a large bathroom can also be found on this floor as well as a guest toilet.
The bathroom furnishings are lavish and tiled with extravagant tiles that can only be found in Italy.
Even when it is furnished modern, preferably made of wood in warm brown, gray and beige tones as well as white, it lacks the cold atmosphere that otherwise goes with it.
Many details make the rooms a cozy living space. Light floods the rooms, there is at least one window in every room and what could be nicer than being woken up in the morning by warm rays of the sun.
Directly in front of the living room is the terrace and the small garden belonging to the house, which is another 100 m⊃2;. The terrace under the portico is ideal to take your meals there, just to sit down to enjoy the surroundings or whatever it takes to make your holiday perfect. This cozy place is complemented by a comfortable barbecue as well as a relaxation area with sofas.

On the first floor, which can be reached via an extravagant constructed, free-floating staircase made of wood and iron, guests have two more bedrooms with a shared bathroom. Interesting to know that there are no usual wardrobes in the bedrooms. Rather, the visitor will find plenty of storage space on open shelves. Nobody has to bring their own bed linen or towels; everything is already available here.

In the house, air conditioning is part of the equipment, but it is usually not necessary to use it. The massive brick walls keep the house cool inside in summer and heat is stored in winter. The pellet stove is used for the cold months. Even in the cooler transition months, nobody has to freeze here, because not only the stove provides warmth, the gas heating also ensures pleasant temperatures. Nowadays, accommodation without Wi-Fi is almost unthinkable, so it is also available here in every room.

The apartment also has a separate storage room, which is only accessible to the guests of the Geranio. From washing machine to garden tools, barbecue, garbage cans, drying racks and laundry detergents, you will find everything you need in a house.

The slightly higher situated pool, less than 30 m away from the Geranio, can normally be used from May to the end of September, depending on the weather, it may also be possible to bathe into October. The pool is divided into a paddling pool for the little ones and a part for swimmers. There are four sun loungers and a parasol available for each of the apartments, which are identified by name. In addition, in the warm months, an area covered with reeds offers the opportunity to retreat to the shade.

Due to the location only approx. 20 km from the sea and approx. 40 km from the heart of the Monti Sibillini, everyone is spoiled for choice. Even more extensive and difficult is the choice of which of the beautiful towns to visit, which winery, which shoe manufacturer, olive oil producer, etc. is worth to be visited, not to mention the many other manufacturers of typical products, simply Made in Le Marche. And especially in the most wonderful part of this unforgettable piece of earth, the Piceno, the south of the country.
