Have you ever thought of New Year's Eve in Italy? Yes, maybe, in one of the big cities like Rome or Milan.
But there are even more impressive sides that bring to life ancient traditions that reflect the original meaning that makes us feel a bit like being a child.
New Year's Eve in the Marche, where many small medieval towns invite you to experience a different New Year - not glamorous and extravagant, not pompous and hyped up.
But maybe that's just the extravagance?
Say goodbye to the traditional and meet new in the tradition and in Italy from a completely unknown side.
Buone feste a tutti
You arrive in the afternoon in the "Land of Harmony", the middle Italian Marche. After check-in and a refreshment snack, take a little trip into the festively decorated surroundings. It is certainly a new experience to experience the winter dress of a coastal city. The typical pampering dinner with fine drops of the Marche you take in the hotel.
As if it was yesterday ...
Today will bring you many surprises, perhaps never before experienced. We drive to Loreto in the morning. Even for non-Christians, a visit to the basilica with the Holy House of Mary is a remarkable sight. In the 16th century, Italy's best artists created a total work of art in marble, the cladding of the Holy House with an area of 600 m2. It is not for nothing that this place of pilgrimage is one of the world's largest. In Loreto you have the opportunity to have lunch or to visit the museum before we continue our journey to the Frasassi caves. There you will be amazed, because you are visiting a living nativity scene! It is by no means a few people who represent the birth of Christ in a church. A whole place lets us relive the time of the birth of Christ. With 300 participants and on 30,000 m2 in one of the world's largest grottos, we say goodbye to the present for a short time and immerse ourselves in another world. This living nativity scene is considered to be the largest in the world and certainly the most suggestive. After this terrific experience, you go back to the hotel, where a delicious evening menu awaits you.
Trip to Umbria - Christmas tree alla grande
In the morning drive to Gubbio. Not only that, it is said that it is the most typical of all Umbrian cities, there is another special feature: the largest Christmas tree in the world. The whole city is overshadowed by the Christmas tree created from fairy lights that covers the whole mountain of Gubbio. Of course, you will also learn more about Gubbio, such as the Church of San Francesco, the largest free-floating place in Italy, the beautiful lanes ... there is no shortage of wonderful impressions. For lunch you will be spoiled in between with culinary delights that you only get during this time.
You return to the hotel, but the day is still a big surprise. You visit a living crib! These are by no means persons who represent the birth of Christ in a church, but a whole place, which is set back in this time and with many participants life at the time of the birth of Christ!
Still a bit like Christmas
In the morning drive to Ascoli Piceno. Not only that, it is said to be the most beautiful of all the marchigian cities, there are the colorful Christmas markets in the beautiful squares and so much more to admire. The Christmas delights pamper the palate in the Café Meletti, one of the ten most beautiful Art Nouveau coffee houses in Italy. The whole city is overshadowed by the fairy lights and one understands why the Ascolaner designate their Piazza del Popolo as "living room of the city". For lunch you will enjoy in a small, traditional restaurant the culinary delights that you only get during this time. Now you return to the hotel to have some time left, before it starts: on to the Cenone! This is the expression for the great New Year's Eve menu, which includes all the treats that should bring good luck in the New Year. Then you can dance or take a trip to Ascoli, where the new year is celebrated in Piazza del Popolo.
Un felice nuovo anno
After this long night, we want to give you a relaxing day. After a late breakfast we drive to San Benedetto del Tronto, whose 8 km long beach promenade offers many activities (the publication of the individual performances will unfortunately only be available from the beginning of December at the earliest).
In the late afternoon you will return to the hotel. After a short break, head off to Fermo. There you will attend the New Year's concert in the beautiful typical theater. After this musical end to the day, enjoy a culinary dinner in Fermo and then return to the hotel.

After breakfast, you will leave the land of harmony to return home. We hope you had fun and interesting days in the Marche!
