Travel on an Italian symbol - the Vespa

More than a travel

Somehow you assign certain vehicles to certain countries: the Harley Davidson belongs to America like the VW to Germany. The same applies to Italy, Fiat and Vespa are two of the mobile vehicles that are inextricably linked to this country.
Of course, these mobile pedestals have spread around the world and are not limited to Italy, but the association is even greater with the Vespa. Somehow a Vespa is in the mind's eye associated with the sea, waving hair, blue sky and palm trees - or in the thick of the traffic of Naples.
For those who would like to fulfill their wish to experience the Italian way of life by means of a Vespa, we offer a trip through part of one of the most beautiful regions of Italy, the Marche (Le Marche). A tour that can best be described as a journey for all the senses, because it combines the scents, the colors, the visual impressions and the silence that can be heard.

Day 1: Start the adventure
Today you arrive individually in Le Marche. Anyone arriving by plane will be picked up from the airport in Ancona by the tour guide. When all the participants have arrived at Residenze degli Ulivi near Campofilone in the early afternoon, you will be prepared for your next days with the Vespa with a few explanations and test drives. It is quite easy to use, but you should learn a few tricks.
You can use the time until a delicious dinner with Marchigian specialties to simply relax by the pool or take a little excursion into the surrounding area.

Day 2: rolling hills, ancient places - look back into the past
Today's tour shows why the Marche are spoken of as the land of harmony. After a hearty breakfast, you set off on your excursion through the incredible beauty of the hilly landscape, the patchwork carpet, composed of meadows, sunflower fields, which are all bathed in bright yellow (June), olive groves and vineyards, where the excellent wines of the Marche have their origin. The journey first leads through Moresco, one of the places listed under the Borghi più belli d’Italia, one of the most beautiful small towns in Italy. It is not surprising that we find a place where time has passed. The Middle Ages are present and a small stop is worthwhile to be captured by this atmosphere of the seemingly immortal.
We continue on the small roads until we reach Fermo. Like a pyramid on a mountain, one of the most important cities of the southern Marche appears from afar. You will linger a little longer here, because a visit to the Roman cisterns and the Pinakothek as well as the theater gives culture lovers a wonderful experience, an espresso among them Arcades in Piazza del Popolo a nice moment of relaxation. Since we speak of a sensory journey, the sense of taste is not neglected either. In a renowned small restaurant, you will be spoiled with culinary delights from the Marche. From this lofty location of the city, you can look over the roofs to far out to the sea and with a little turn to the Sibillini Mountains.
We continue on dreamy country roads to Torre di Palme. This tiny place is one of the picturesque towns above the sea, which were the actual centers of the towns that now stretch along the sea and did not emerge until the 18th century.
After a short stroll through the picturesque streets, you will return to your accommodation. There you can enjoy the gardens and pool before dinner.
Total length: approx. 60 km

Day 3: Fine drops, beautiful views
On this day the first stage of your tour is Ripatransone. Apart from the fact that this little town is called the “Balcony of the Marche” with its wonderful 360-degree view, it also offers the narrowest alley in Italy. After a short city tour, during which you will of course also get to know the narrowest alley, this tour then continues through the growing area of the best vines, such as the Pecorino and the Passerina grapes, the grapes for the Rosso Piceno and Rosso Piceno Superiore to Offida. It is the city of wine and lace, also part of the Borghi piu ‘belli d’Italia. In the showroom of one of the most famous wineries in the Piceno (south of Marche) you can taste some of the excellent wines with a lunch menu. Since you can enjoy a little more culture afterwards, the alcohol content of your blood has already decreased again!
On the little traffic-free country roads, the tour leads on a ridge between two river valleys through an area that reflects the charm of the Marche. You never get tired of admiring breathtaking panoramas to the right and left. You can return to Residenze degli Ulivi via Cossignano, Carassai and Montefiore dell’Aso. There you will have the evening menu.
Total length: approx. 68 km

Day 4: Change of scenery
In order to understand a region and its peculiarities, one should not limit oneself to just one part. Here in the southern part of the Marche, the Sibillini Mountains form an important area. A trade hub in the Middle Ages and the pilgrims' route from Loreto to Rome, today they are the epitome of a naturalistic paradise.
So you are going to change location today. In the morning you leave for Montemonaco, to the country hotel La Cittadella. Located in the middle of the national park, surrounded by the highest mountains of the Sibillinen, this accommodation is an experience. The approx. 65 km long route is interrupted by small stops in Montedinove and Force, 'until the realm of the seer Sibilla, who gives the mountain its name, opens up to you. Along the tour you will have a lunch snack, in a sense the prelude to the culinary delights of the mountains.
Depending on the time of arrival, there is still the option of a short excursion.
Total length: approx. 70 km

Day 5: The kingdom of the Sibilla and its legends
Here at La Cittadella you are in the heart of the Sibillines and so you will get to know the most beautiful places with this tour.
First, the journey goes to Montemonaco, the highest point of the Sibillines at 998 m. From here it goes over the small country road lined with meadows and woods via Isola San Biagio to the entrance of the hell gorge, the Gola dell‘Infernaccio. A view from the small road down into the canyon of the Tenna River is impressive, but also the surrounding mountains. In contrast to the Alps, they have nothing oppressive or oppressive here but look like building blocks covered with green velvet. After the impressions of this beginning of the Hell Gorge, the tour continues via Montefortino. A wonderful little town, laid out around the mountain and, in the Middle Ages, the center of the manufacture of sackcloth and silk, which was then sold throughout Europe via Florence - incidentally with a registered trademark, as it would be called today. Nearby, in the midst of greenery, is the oldest Marian pilgrimage church in Italy, Madonna dell’Ambro. In this church Christianity and legend meet. Even those who are not churchgoers will surely like to listen to the history of this church.
After lunch we head for Amandola. It is advisable to take a walk or a drive through the enchanting town and then take in a little of this special flair with an espresso under the arcades. Via Comunanza and past the Gerosa reservoir, it goes back to La Cittadella. A heavenly dinner ends this varied day.
Total length: approx. 65 km

Day 6: In a country before our time
You could almost give today's tour this film title. Today's route leads to the Piano Grande with Castelluccio. Here we are already on the border with Umbria. It would be pointless to try to explain what awaits you here because it cannot be described. The Great Plateau first lets the visitor take a deep breath. A lunar landscape with an ever-changing sea of flowers, an area that looks as if Monet had painted it from May to the end of July ... Experience it for yourself when you drive through this unique terrain. One downer, however, remains. The place Castelluccio, which we also visit, fell victim to the earthquake for the most part in 2016. Nevertheless, thousands upon thousands of visitors come every year to admire the Fioritura, the incredible time of bloom. The way back is on the same road, but the panoramas change with every turn.
In the evening, at the end of your Vespa tour, you will enjoy a wonderful farewell menu.
Total length: approx. 75 km

Day 7: Arrivederci Marche!
Today is the day to say goodbye. After breakfast you will return to Pedaso with your Vespas. Your luggage will be brought to Pedaso in a minibus. Due to the route, a flight in the late afternoon or an additional night is recommended for air travel.
We hope you enjoyed your Italian Vespa excursion!
