Like sapphires - the hilly landscape

The patchwork carpet of Le Marche

Fermo, Palazzo dei Priori

The lovely hilly landscape lies between the coastal strip and the high mountains.
It has been praised by many writers for the incredible harmony emanating from its gentle waves. When viewed from above, the fields and olive groves, the meadows and the vineyards seem to be simply poured out, here a triangular piece of cultivated land, here a few rows of olive trees - in the middle maybe a few trees that the farmer would rather avoid than simply cut them down because they are interfere with the harvest.
The rivers that originate in the mountains, such as Aso, Menocchia, Tesino, Chienti or Tronto, run through the hills with their runs and contribute to rich harvests in their valleys.

On the heights, in the middle of the cultivated land, the landowners have set up their "case coloniche", their courtyards, which look expansive and impressive like small fortresses. In earlier times they housed cattle on the ground floor, the first floor served as living space and the pigeons had their home under the roof.
